Backlot has been in the making for 20 years and has been making short films and developing scripts for just as long...

Backlot was started as a collaboration between 2 friends who met while working for Blockbuster Video in the 1990's in Tampa, Florida and have been the best of friends and collaborators ever since...

In the early 1990's, the two met and were mentored by Academy Award Winning Producer Charles Okun, who befriended the eager friends after meeting them while attending a Producer workshop in South Florida. Charlie encouraged the talented friends, he died of cancer not long after taking the boys under his wing -- in 2005. They will always remember his kindnesses...

Cotton

A short film set at the end of the Civil War,

Effie, a slave on a South Carolina Plantation, escapes from slavery to head north in search of the fabled UNDERGROUND RAILROAD, she runs into trouble in the form of a wounded Confederate Soldier she comes across by chance.

The Painter

The Painter is a short film about a struggling artist who finally makes it big in the New York art scene. Preparing for an exhibit at The Met, he returns to the small town he grew up in for some inspiration, only to confront the ghosts of a past he thought he had put behind him.

GOLDEN GATE

Golden Gate is a full length film about a man who discovers, at 50, that he was adopted when he receives an unusual inheritance with an unusual request from his biological father. His whole world is thrown into turmoil when his wife asks for a divorce --with all this on his back, he decides to follow through with his father's dying wish, which takes him on a coast to coast odyssey of self discovery.

In order that we keep a revenue stream going, we also produce commercial and industrial works meant to bring attention to businesses. We will work with clients to develop, write, cast and shoot video's for advertising purposes and to bring interest to the business from possible investors.
